Susan St-Laurent

Susan St-Laurent is a painter from the Montreal South shore area. She is professionally active in digital art.

Holding a Bachelor of Arts from Laval University in Quebec City, where she studied film production, visual arts, and popular arts and traditions, she also joined a Master's degree program in sociocultural leisure management, with an emphasis on creativity.

During a distinguished career spanning over 25 years coordinating training for graphic designers and multimedia specialists, she developed her expertise in digital art.

Since 2015, her commitment to the visual arts has been driven by a deep need to create and share her art.

Her participation in numerous exhibitions has earned her around twenty-five recognitions from her peers.

ARTISTIC APPROACH

Susan St-Laurent's artistic approach explores the synergies between painting and digital art, emphasizing forms, colors, and composition.

To create, she uses a computer, a digital tablet, and acrylic paint, requiring constant learning and experimentation.

Her process often begins with the creation of raw materials using traditional and digital tools; Color palettes and visual textures thus become the foundations of her abstract works.

For several years, she has been inspired by the textures and shapes found in the works of Austrian painter Gustav Klimt, enriching her approach while developing her own artistic language.

She is also inspired by experimentation with other techniques such as mosaic, stained glass, screen printing, and batik, each of which can be interpreted "digitally."

August 2023 - Silver Certification received at the 16th Grands Prix du Design competition for the scarf/painting project entitled "Contemporary Collection."
October 2022 - Platinum Award and August 2022 - Gold Certification - Two honors received at the 15th Grands Prix du Design competition for the "Art et lumière" collection of illuminated works.
March 2022 - Order of Merit, Florence Junca Adenot Prize awarded by the City of Boucherville
February 2022 - Following a competition, RIDEAU, the Professional Association of Live Entertainment Presenters, selected my digital print entitled "Under the Spotlights," which was presented to each of the winners at the gala on May 17, 2022.
October 2021 - "Creation" grant awarded by the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec (CALQ) for the development of a collection of illuminated works.
June 2021 - First prize in the Abstraction category with a grant from the Quebec Ministry of Culture and Communications, Virtual Art Competition of the Mascouche Arts Festival.
June 2020 - "Coup de cœur" (Favorite Award) from the organizing committee of the Rendez-vous Art Contemporain 2020, virtual group exhibition.
March 2020 – "Acquisition and Marketing" grant awarded by the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec (CALQ).
November 2019 – First prize in the "Non-figurative Art" category and grant, awarded at the AAPARS Exhibition-Competition, Centre Marcel-Dulude.

October 2017 – Honorable Mention with Grant, Salon Métamorphose en 150 Variations, Mont-Saint-Hilaire Museum of Fine Arts held in fall 2017.
March 2017 – First prize in the "Créer l'espace" competition held by Groupe Harden, which led to the creation of a digital artwork on stand'ART in the Beauharnois District.
October 2013 – My digital art production received a joint first prize awarded by a jury at the Galerie Dupont in Mont-Saint-Hilaire as part of the "Agents cherche talents" competition, which received 400 artist applications.
October 2012 – 2nd Prize in Non-Figurative Art with a scholarship from the AAPARS Member Painters' Exhibition-Competition
July 2012 – 2nd Prize in Visual Art with a scholarship awarded by the Boucherville Arts Council at the Arts and Gardens Symposium
October 2007 – Gold Medal in Abstraction at the 2007 Gala Competition of the Cercle des Artistes Peintres et Sculpteurs du Québec (CAPSQ), Montreal
